Reveal: Third Ward Project
We’re excited to finally share our newest project, located in the heart of the Third Ward neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our client had just purchased his first home – a modern townhome built in 2018. With skyline views of Uptown, this townhouse was move in ready, but lacked character.
Additionally, our client was ready to upgrade his college style furniture with quality pieces that would fit his fabulous new home. The home also needed new paint throughout, new lighting, and a backsplash update before we focused on the furnishings and decor.

The first thing that needed to be addressed was the dingy grey walls from the previous owner. There was an attempt to cover up scuffs and scratches, which resulted in splotchy grey walls and distracting discoloration throughout.
We wanted to enhance the modern style of the home and create a bright, welcoming space. We opted for crisp white paint throughout the main living spaces while adding moody green and navy tones in the bedroom and office - more on that later!
We introduced brushed brass lighting to contrast against the chrome cabinet hardware and provide warmth against the crisp white walls. (Yes - it’s ok to mix metals in your home!)
The client was really drawn to mid-century modern style furniture and decor, so we made sure to select modern lighting that would work well with the future furniture and style of the townhome.
After paint and lighting, we knew nothing mattered unless we addressed the backsplash (a little dramatic, I know). While the tile itself wasn’t awful, it was covered in cooking stains and overall installed very poorly.
We opted for a clean white, mosaic backsplash. To ensure the pattern wasn’t too intense, we chose a soft grey grout that works well with the quartz countertops. It immediately changed the kitchen with minor construction.
We opted to paint the island a deep navy color to bring in a pop of color against the white walls and cabinetry. We added texture to the room with warm wood tones, cognac leather barstools, and grey mid-century modern style dining chairs. This softened the chrome hardware and high gloss cabinetry.
Later this month, we will be sharing more on this project including the masculine home office and cozy yet sophisticated master bedroom design.
